We are happy to announce that three incoming Freshman to Holy Cross of San Antonio received a $1,000 scholarship  from the combined efforts of St. Joseph’s Society Hall and Hope for the Future.

St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Benevolent Association (St. Joseph’s Society), a 501(c)3 non profit charitable corporation chartered in 1885, is one of the oldest Catholic men’s organizations in the state. This organization supports Catholic charities and education, making scholarships available every year to incoming Freshman. The Society has over 120 members who volunteer to help raise funds predominately through participation in the King William Fair and from rental of their banquet hall.(1)

Hope for the Future is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization initiated by community leaders to make Catholic school a reality for impoverished families in the San Antonio area as a way out of the cycle of poverty. It is Hope for the Future’s goal to fund every deserving child whose family seeks the faith-filled and academically rigorous education at one of our Catholic schools. Since the inception in December 2006, Hope for the Future has awarded over $12 million in tuition assistance funds to 9,800 students.(2)

St. Joseph’s Society teamed up with Hope for the Future and awarded $1000 scholarships to twenty-two  incoming freshmen at San Antonio Catholic high schools for the 2015-2016 school year. These non-renewing scholarships were awarded based on grades, class attendance, extracurricular activities, community service, Church service, family income, and other criteria.
