INTERVIEW WITH DAISI SALAS ’20

Eighth grader, Daisi Salas, Class of 2020, was interviewed about why she enjoys Holy Cross and why she plans on continuing her education at Holy Cross for high school.

Why do you want to continue your education at Holy Cross for high school?

I am looking forward to continuing my education at Holy Cross for high school because of the teachers here. The teachers at Holy Cross have instilled a great education and work ethic in me.  The teachers at Holy Cross always strive to help all of their students succeed while loving them at the same time.

What do you enjoy most about Holy Cross?

The number one thing that I enjoy most at Holy Cross is that we all are one big family. I have attended Holy Cross since the sixth grade and my first day, I felt accepted automatically. I felt loved and cared for by everyone, I had never experienced that at any other school before. I consider Holy Cross my second home with my second family and most of all I am proud that I am able to attend Holy Cross.

If you can describe Holy Cross in three words, what would they be and why?

If I could describe Holy Cross in three words it would be faith, family, and dedication. Faith, because Holy Cross always finds time to put God first, in and outside the classroom. Secondly, family, because Holy Cross is one big family that takes care of one another. Finally, dedication, because of who represents Holy Cross, the teachers, who are dedicated to helping their students do their best and the students are dedicated to perform to the best of their abilities.

We are proud to announce that today Beautify San Antonio presented Holy Cross of San Antonio a total of $3,000 for beautification of the Grotto! As per the grant’s guidelines, Holy Cross students helped design the landscape improvements and presented their plan to the Beautify San Antonio Committee.

Michael Lopez’16, Jessica Solano’16, Stephanie Perez’16 and Briana Torres’16 worked together to design a plan for the Grotto under the guidance of Mrs. Renee Buchanan, Landscape Designer at Growing Solutions. They impressed the committee with their presentation presentation on the history of the Grotto, the planning process, and how they will recruit volunteers for the project.

We are looking forward to the unfolding of their design and we are very grateful for all their hard work and dedication to beautifying our campus. Be on the lookout for volunteer days to help complete this project!
