Dear Knights,
I hope you are well and getting ready for this year’s Memorial Day Tournament. This is a reminding note that the captains’ meeting is scheduled for May 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. We are looking for a great turnout. We are establishing a Lady Knights Tournament this year and have had a great response. We are encouraging as many teams as possible to pay the entry before the May 16th date, if possible. We currently have 6 teams paid with 21 commitments. We are at a very good point for this year’s event. I look forward to meeting with you on May 16th. Please forward this note to all those concerned.

That meeting actually was well-attended and the anticipation was certainly there as well as the apprehension many of the class representatives were feeling. Much was accomplished but what struck me most was the support and cooperation ultimately received that evening amidst the talk beforehand regarding participation levels. What a privilege to have witnessed the first-ever girls game and the excellent play from the graduating classes of ’61 through ’72 who continue to defy time. Finally, I’m grateful of all those that came before us in preserving this gem of an event and now realizing how fortunate we all were in not having to be concerned with the details on running the event all these 30 plus years the event has been formally held.
