Parents and Community Members:

Thank you for attending our School Choice Rally held on Thursday, January 31st.

This is a critical time for action.  If we all take a few minutes to contact our state representatives, together we can make a difference.

The Texas 83rd Legislature is now in session.  This is the time to exert every effort to let the elected officials know that you favor school choice.  Parents have suffered financially just to send their children to Catholic Schools.  Therefore, school choice is crucial.

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child’s school, public or private, while also saving significant taxpayer dollars.

This proposal is strongly opposed by the “education” establishment.  This makes reaching our goal of school choice more difficult.  What MUST you do?

Contact Governor Rick Perry: by E-mail click here or call 512-463-2000

Contact Lt. Governor David Dewhurst: by E-mail click here or call 512 463-0001

Contact Sen. Dan Patrick (Chairman of Texas Senate Education Committee): by E-mail click here or call 512-463-0355

Contact Speaker Joe Straus: by E-mail click here or call 512-463-1000

Calling is personal and very effective. And, you receive a welcoming reception.  To help you, here are two possible messages that you can use in your phone call, E-mail or both.

As a parent, I pay taxes to the school district, and pay even more so that I can choose where my child attends school.  The more equitable solution would be to have the funds follow the child.  I am grateful for anything you can do to make that happen.  Thanks for your good work in supporting school choice!

I am calling to let you know that I wholeheartedly endorse school choice in both forms: Tax Credits and Vouchers.  I am especially interested in the Taxpayers Savings Grants Program. Therefore during this 83rd Legislature I ask that you do all in your power to make school choice in Texas a reality.

Next, click on http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/Home.aspx to learn who are your Texas Senator and Texas Representative.  Call and/or E-mail them with your message to support school choice.

It can happen if we make it happen!

Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Bro. Stanley Culotta, CSC, MD

President
