BENEFITS OF A HOLY CROSS EDUCATION

Interview with Miss. Briana Torres

We asked Miss Briana Torres, a current senior at Holy Cross, what benefits she receives from a Holy Cross education.  “This school has opened many doors for me,” Miss Torres said, “Holy Cross has given me a strong foundation, which I will take with me to college and beyond.” Miss Torres is accepted to several Universities such as St. Edward’s University, the University of Texas at Austin and Manhattan College. Since August 2015 she has raised $208,800 in scholarship money for college. Furthermore in early January 2016, Miss Torres was recognized at the Valero Alamo Bowl as a recipient of the Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship. She concludes, “I have found much success this year and I know that it is because of Holy Cross.” We are very proud of Miss Torres’ accomplishments and we look forward to her success to come!

Congratulations Briana! Keep up the great work!

Incoming freshman, Miss Maggie Nava, Class of 2020, was interviewed about her decision to attend Holy Cross. Miss Nava is an accomplished student from St. Gregory the Great Catholic School and we are excited to have her walk the same halls as her father (Gabe Nava ‘80) and brother (Jay Nava ’17).

Why did you choose Holy Cross?

I have chosen to attend Holy Cross because my dad and uncles graduated from Holy Cross.  My brother, Jay also currently attends as a junior.  I enjoyed the 8th grade tour and there seems to be a lot of tradition and family at Holy Cross.

What are you looking forward to at Holy Cross?

I am looking forward to making long lasting friends who I will be spending the next four years with and hopefully many more after that.  I also look forward to being in a new environment where I will be improving my academics.

Below are some of Maggie’s accomplishments from this past year:

National Junior Honor Society President at St. Gregory

A-Honor roll first two quarters of 2015-2016 at St. Gregory

HITT Select Softball MVP (August 2015)

AIAL shot put / discus champion 2015 from St. Gregory
