Senior, Jay Nava, ’17 was named KSAT 12 Instant Replay’s Scholar of the Week this past Sunday! Jay is involved in numerous organizations at Holy Cross and was recently recognized as a Hispanic Scholar scoring in the top 2% in the nation.

The Holy Cross National Honor Society is supporting the San Antonio Food Bank today in encouraging parents to eat at Whataburger. By eating at Whataburger today you can receive 20% of all sales from 6-8 p.m. will go to the San Antonio Food Bank.

There will be a Gala volunteer meeting, this Thursday, September 8th in the Holy Cross Library.

Time: 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

The Fifth Annual President’s Blue & Gold Gala will be held on Saturday, September 17th at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa, 23808 Resort Parkway, San Antonio, Texas 78261.

SENIOR NAMED 2016-2017  NATIONAL HISPANIC SCHOLAR

Senior, Jay Nava, ’17 was recognized as a 2016-2017 National Hispanic Scholar. Each year, the National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) honors more than 5,000 students from more than 250,000 Hispanic/Latino high school juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT. To be eligible, students must be at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino and achieve a minimum PSAT/NMSQT score for their region. Students with a cumulative junior year grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher are designated as Scholars. Jay scored in the top 2% in the nation.

Congrats, Jay! Keep up the great work!

SENIOR BREAKFAST

On Tuesday, August 23rd, the Holy Cross  of San Antonio Alumni Association sponsored the second annual senior breakfast. The seniors  heard from the Alumni President, Mr. Juan Barrera ’88, who encouraged the seniors to enjoy their senior year and to work hard. The Alumni Association also gifted each senior with a Holy Cross lapel pin.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Congratulations to Miss. Kellie Alcozer ’11, for being recognized at the San Antonio Hispanic Association of Journalists 2016 Gala, held this past weekend. Miss. Alcozer was awarded a scholarship for her studies at Texas State University where she is a Mass Communications major with an emphasis on Public Relations. She recently completed a Public Relations/Multimedia internship at Palo Alto College. In addition, Miss. Alcozer was selected to attend the North American International Auto Show and the NASCAR Brickyard 500 as a student journalist.

On Friday, August 12, 2016, Mr. John Sebastian Gutierrez, Class of 2011, was officially received as a novice in to the Congregation of Holy Cross at the Holy Cross Novitiate in Cascade, Colorado.
