SENIOR HENRIANNA IBARRA SIGNS WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS
On Wednesday, April 12, 2017 Miss Henrianna Ibarra, Class of 2017, signed her commitment letter to attend and play volleyball at the University of North Texas, located in Denton Texas. Henrianna will be playing outside hitter and defensive specialist on the Eagle’s Volleyball team in the fall.
On her official signing day, Miss Ibarra was accompanied by her volleyball coaches, Coach Ruben Calderon and Coach Molly Calderon, Principal, Mr. Henry Galindo, teammates and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ibarra.

STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN ADVOCACY DAY AT THE CAPTIAL
On Tuesday, April 4th four of our Holy Cross students participated in Advocacy Day at the Capital in Austin, TX. Our students traveled with 6 Catholic Schools from the Archdiocese of San Antonio to promote Catholic legislation. Nearly 4,000 Catholics from 15 Catholic diocese showed their support on Tuesday at the rally. The students were invited to participate in a mock hearing on the Ordinance-Pay Day Lending.

CONGRATULATIONS MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD
Congratulations to the Middle School Track and Field teams for a great showing at the League meet this past weekend.
Congratulations to the Middle School Boys “A” team for bringing home a back to back City Championship trophy. The Middle School Boys team won 11 gold medals in the following events; 4×100 relay, 4x 200 relays, Discus, Shot Put, High Jump, Triple Jump, 200 M, 300 M hurdles, 400 M, 1600 M, and 2400. 3 silver and 2 bronze conclude the medal count.
Special recognition goes to Bryon Armstrong who won gold medals in all his 5 events.
The Girls “A” team placed 5th overall in the meet. The Boys “B” teams brought home several ribbons in several events.

In your prayers please remember Rudy Garcia who died on March 19, 2017. Rudy Garcia is the father of Paul Garcia ’87, Michael Garcia ’75, and Rudy Garcia ’78. He is the Uncle to Freddie Garcia ’74 and Tony Calderon ’78.

ESCOBEDO NAMED NEW PRINCIPAL OF HOLY CROSS OF SAN ANTONIO
Holy Cross of San Antonio students will be greeted by a new principal next fall, Dr. Rene J. Escobedo.
Dr. Escobedo said “I am extremely excited to be returning to my alma mater. Holy Cross has given me so much over the years. It is time for me to give back to the school that I love so much.”
Dr. Escobedo began his career in education in 1996 as teacher at Holy Cross. Over his nine years of service at Holy Cross he served as a teacher, coach, and campus ministry director and vice principal. He is currently the Principal of St. Anthony Catholic High School, where he has served for the past 7 years. Dr. Escobedo received his Doctorate in Education in 2014 from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He also received his Master’s in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio and he received his Bachelors in Sociology from Our Lady of the Lake University.
Holy Cross of San Antonio Principal, Mr. Henry Galindo, said “Holy Cross of San Antonio is fortunate to have Dr. Escobedo onboard as the new Principal for the 2017-2018 school year.” Mr. Galindo adds, “He will do great things for our school. We look forward to him starting this summer.”
