THE VICTOR PAUL RAMIREZ MEMORIAL FUND AWARDS INAUGURAL SCHOLARSHIPS

(San Antonio, Texas) The Victor Paul Ramirez Memorial Fund inaugural scholarships were presented on Fri., Oct. 24 at the Holy Cross Convocation Center by Mr. Christopher Ramirez, Alumnus 1985, his ninety-year old mother Inez Ramirez, and wife Mrs. Leticia Ramirez. The recipients of the scholarships are freshmen Jesalyn Esquivel and Carlos Treviño.

In order to remove financial barriers for incoming freshmen, the Victor Paul Ramirez Memorial Fund seeks to support qualifying students who wish to enroll in a private Catholic school and can benefit from tuition assistance. Students must enroll at Holy Cross of San Antonio and must remain in good standing in both academics and conduct.

“My brother, Victor Paul Ramirez, was a 1986 proud graduate of Holy Cross High School,” said Mr. Ramirez. “He was a student at San Antonio College in 1988 when his life was cut short. Victor was a very loving and caring person with a love for life. And even in his last hour, Victor demonstrated just how much of a giving person he was by laying his life down for another.”

Miss Esquivel and Mr. Treviño were joined by their parents: Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Chávez and Mr. and Mrs. José Treviño.

Victor Paul’s siblings and other family members were present at the scholarship award ceremony. They were also accompanied by the Holy Cross alumni who helped to raise the funds awarded to Miss Esquivel and Mr. Treviño.

Holy Cross of San Antonio is an independent Catholic co-educational middle and high school. The Brothers of Holy Cross founded the school in 1957 steeped in tradition and education. Holy Cross serves as the only co-educational college preparatory school centrally located in San Antonio’s Westside.
