INTERVIEW WITH JUNIOR, JOSEPH VASQUEZ ’17

Holy Cross junior, Mr. Joseph Vasquez, Class of 2017 was interviewed about what he likes about Holy Cross.

What do you love about Holy Cross?

What I love about Holy Cross is the way everyone is like on big family. Holy Cross has pushed me to excel in everything I do, molding me into the young man that I am today. I also love the values and morals that are taught here, they are core values that I will carry with me throughout my life.

Describe Holy Cross to someone who has not heard of our school.

I would describe Holy Cross to someone who is unfamiliar with our school, by describing the “family like” atmosphere here. It is one of the best qualities about the school. We are one big caring community!

What extra-curricular activities are you involved in?

I am involved in basketball, National Honor Society (NHS), Student Knight Ambassadors and I am an ambassador for the Hope for the Future Ambassadors. I think it’s important to stay involved after the school day, it’s important to be a part of the bigger community and it’s a great way to meet different students.

This past week, the Holy Cross Junior Class took part in a service retreat focusing on social justice. Both groups worked in the San Antonio Food Bank  garden weeding two gardens, harvesting broccoli and strawberries, and clearing fields. They got a small glimpse at what it is to work hard for meager wages and little appreciation. By the end of the retreat, the students found a new understanding of all that goes on behind the scenes to provide all that they have on their tables.
