Dear Middle School Athletes and Parents,

If students are interested in participating in any Holy Cross Middle School sports, a current middle school physical form must be on file and the student must be enrolled before they can participate in any practice sessions. Physicals are valid for one year and must be taken annually if students wish to continue to participate in sports while at Holy Cross. If you wish to visit your primary physician for physical, please pick up an AIAL middle school physical form from the school front office.

Please feel free to drop off the completed physical form to the front office. I recommend you keep a copy of the physical for your records and email me directly when the form has been submitted to the front office.

The first day of the practice for Middle School Football is Monday, August 1st at 6:30 a.m. and Volleyball practice starts Monday, August 8th. Volleyball practice schedules will be posted soon, while Football practice and game schedules are currently available on the Holy Cross website by selecting the quick link “Athletic Schedules.” Please note to view a practice schedule you must select the “view Practice Schedule” which is located at the top left of a game schedule.

If your child is interested in participating in Middle School Cross Country, please contact me via email and note that Cross Country practice is scheduled to start on Monday, August 8th, depending on interest.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email.

Enjoy the rest of your summer,

Vincent Padilla

MONTREAL TRIP 2016

Last week (July 5-9), eight students and three faculty members participated in the Holy Cross Pilgrimage to Montreal, Canada.  Joining two other Holy Cross schools, they visited: St. Joseph’s Oratory (the product of the work and devotion of St. Br. Andre Bessete, the only Holy Cross Saint); Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral; St. Patrick’s Basilica; Notre Dame Basilica of Montreal; and, Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours.  The group prayed, attended mass, walked the Way of the Cross and enjoyed fellowship.  “It was truly a spiritual experience and all were deeply affected by the trip.  We thank God for this time we spent together, for our safe travels, and for all those who helped make it possible with prayer and monetary assistance.  We look forward to the spiritual guidance these student leaders will bring to the entire student body in the coming school year.” said Dean of Student Development Richard Vasquez ’98.

Kent Thiry Foundation Scholarship Awarded to Chris Silva ’18

DaVita is a healthcare provider for End Stage Renal Disease patients. This award is named after our Mayor (CEO) Kent Thiry, who founded this scholarship to help the families of our hard working and dedicated teammates.

Chris Silva (Sr.) is one of the nurses at the Da Vita clinic. He and his son applied for this prestigious scholarship about 3-6 months ago and were awarded  $2,000 toward academics. Chris Sr. is one of my best teammates and exemplifies leadership, compassion and steadfast morals. This foundation that Chris Sr. has set for his son has molded Chris Jr. to be an overwhelming favorite to win this award. Chris Jr. is a scholar in every significance of the word as his father brags to his teammates and his patients DAILY about his son’s achievements. I am proud to see such a man grow in the Holy Cross system as I know Chris will be one of those graduates that people look up to and remember.

The attached  photo is of the Silva Family after receiving the award. The clinic, Chris Sr.’s teammates and senior leadership at this celebration to present this award and celebrate this prominent achievement.

Congratulations, Chris!

A special thank you to Tony Cisneros, MBA ‘06
