Our volleyball team followed up last week’s championship run in the Harlandale Tournament with another first place finish in the SAISD Tournament! Our Knights beat Donna, Jefferson, Wagner, South San, McAllen, and Schertz JPII to take the trophy. The team is currently 13-1 overall and 1-0 in district.

Henrianna Ibarra and Victoria Gonzalez were named to the All-Tournament team.

PTC Meeting – 6:30 PM – Thursday August 27, 2015 – Convocation Center

Holy Cross Parent Teacher Committee (PTC) will host the first general meeting of the school year on Thursday August 27, 2015 at 6:30 PM in the Convocation Center, all parents are encouraged to attend. Please, come join us!!  We want to hear from you so that we can introduce and coordinate the ongoing programs that our teachers, school administration, and students will be participating in for the 2015-2016 school year.  This is also the perfect opportunity for parents to meet their class parent representatives. Lastly, this will be the first opportunity to purchase the 2015 Tailgate T-shirt.

ATTENTION ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

INTERESTED IN JOINING CLASSICAL CHOIR!!

Singing daily for at least ten minutes reduces stress, clears sinuses,improves posture

and can even help you live longer.

If you are interested in joining the Holy Cross Classical Choir,

stop by Mr. Garza’s room #5 by this Wednesday, August 19th to sign up.

You do not need previous choral experience to participate in the choir.

Anyone can sign up to be in the choir, regardless of your background music!!

The first practice is this Thursday, August 20th at 10:00am.

Please remember to sign up prior to the first practice in order to be released from class.

Reasons to join:
*Research has proven that students who have music included

in their daily learning perform more highly in reading, writing, and math.
*The longer a student studies music, the higher his or her

scores tend to be on all three portions of the SAT.
*College admissions officers give special consideration to students who are part of their

high school music programs because of the skills and responsibility that is develops in the students.

*Make new friends and represent Holy Cross at different events!!

*Meet all your child’s teachers and review their class schedules
*PTC will be signing up for volunteers & selling t-shirts
*Athletic Booster Club will be selling HC Spirit items
*Chica Girl Magazine will be selling socks that are uniform approved (a portion of the proceeds benefit Hope for the Future)
*Kym’s Kids will be making a short presentation about their organization that awards college funds for student volunteer hours
*Student picture order forms are due (Student pictures were taken during the student orientations)
If you do not have your child’s schedule, one will be provided.

STEVEN ZUMARÁN, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT & ENROLLMENT

Holy Cross of San Antonio would like to announce the new Assistant Director  of Institutional Advancement & Enrollment, Mr. Steven Zumarán. Steven comes to Holy Cross from the Bexar County District Attorney’s office where he served as the Director of Community Initiatives. Before his time at the D.A.’s office, he ran the Field Campaign for the District Attorney Nico LaHood and worked as the External Communications Liaison for Voices for Children of San Antonio. He is a proud Holy Cross alum of the class of 2009. He received his B.A. in Philosophy and Applied New Media Arts from Our Lady of the Lake University and is currently working on completing his M.P.A. at the University of Texas San Antonio.

We are excited to welcome Mr. Zumarán  to our Holy Cross community.
