Holy Cross Community Services held its first pre-construction site meeting on Sept. 10 for the creation of a practice football field, a soccer field and girls softball field as part of the Holy Cross Community Enrichment and Recreational Program.  The fields will be located on the corner of Rivas Street and General McMullen on the 9 acres of undeveloped property owned by the Brothers of Holy Cross.

The Holy Cross Community Enrichment and Recreational Program’s goals are:

  • To encourage and increase youth participation in football, cheerleading and dance;
  • To ensure a safe and positive playing environment for all participants; and,
  • To instill life-long values of teamwork, dedication and superior work ethic in the classroom and on the playing field.

The Program will provide health and wellness activities and sports for the local Westside families including the Holy Cross Pop Warner League and the Holy Cross of San Antonio’s students.  The fields are expected to be completed by Spring 2011. To learn how to make a donation in order to support this program, contact Elizabeth Eguia-Garcia, Director of Advancement and Development, 210.433.4509.

Holy Cross Community Services is a 501 (c)(3) charitable umbrella organization which sponsors various projects and programs including Holy Cross Family Medical Center and Holy Cross of San Antonio located in the heart of San Antonio’s Westside, a highly underdeveloped and underserved region of the city. The mission of Holy Cross Community Services shall be to carry on religious, charitable, literary, health, health-related, and education works consistent with the spirit and teachings of Christianity and the Catholic faith, including (without limitation) the operation of a Catholic school sponsored by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Southwest Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Beginning on Monday (Aug. 23) students will receive twenty-one Cajun Bash raffle tickets. If you have more than one student enrolled, only one will receive tickets.  Lost or misplaced tickets cannot be replaced without being charged again.

Families have an option to sell the tickets in order to recoup the Cajun Bash fee or simply fill out the stubs and return them to Holy Cross.  Raffle winners will be chosen at the Cajun Bash and winners need not be present to win.

As an added incentive, 50% of every ten “extra” tickets that families sell will go toward their tuition.  Call Eddie Cedillo (210-433-2178) to obtain extra raffle tickets.

ALL TICKET STUBS, MONEY AND UNSOLD TICKETS ARE DUE ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2010.
