On September 20th, 2011 Holy Cross seniors who are enrolled in AP science and Honors Calculus classes toured the Texas Biomedical Research Facility. During the tour they saw the primate facilities, the genetics computer labs, and were given a lecture by Dr. Ricardo Carreon who studies infectious diseases there at the facility. He shared with the seniors what they should do to be successful in their senior year and first year at university. It was truly a rewarding experience for the students who attended and they came back with many ideas and aspirations.

The students in Mr. Reimer’s chemistry class created calorimeters. Calorimeters are devices that measure the heat from chemical reactions. The goal of the experiment was to find how many calories are in a single Dorito chip.

Mr. Reimer will be conducting an SAT prep course beginning Sunday, April 10. Any student can sign up. Sign up sheets are located outside of room 12 in the science building. Cost is $50 or $60 depending on when you sign up.
